About Miller Psychological Services
I am dedicated to supporting the emotional, behavioral, and developmental well-being of children, adolescents, and adults. As a licensed clinical psychologist and certified school psychologist, I specialize in comprehensive psychological assessments designed to understand the unique needs of each person. My practice focuses exclusively on evaluations; I do not provide therapy or counseling services.
I provide in-depth evaluations that address a wide range of concerns across the lifespan, including developmental delays, learning challenges, emotional regulation, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and more. Many adults seek evaluations to better understand long-standing challenges or to explore a possible diagnosis that was missed in childhood. Using evidence-based tools and a personalized approach, I aim to offer insightful, accurate assessments that guide treatment, educational strategies, workplace supports, and family support.

About Dr. Miller
Who I Am
Dr. Alicia Miller is a licensed psychologist in Southern California specializing in comprehensive psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of focus include autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, mood and behavior disorders, and concerns related to complex trauma. She has advanced training in the autism profile Pervasive Drive for Autonomy (PDA) and is passionate about helping families understand and navigate the behaviors associated with this complex profile. She is certified in Dr. Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), which assesses brain development in the context of trauma and developmental history to guide effective treatment recommendations. She is also an expert in the psychological assessment of individuals with Smith-Magenis syndrome, a rare genetic microdeletion.
Personally, Dr. Miller is married and the proud mother of two daughters, the oldest of whom has a rare genetic syndrome, autism, and complex behavioral needs. She knows firsthand the stress that behavioral dysregulation, therapy appointments, and medical bills can place on a family. She strives to support the whole family by offering empathy and understanding, along with resources and recommendations to improve quality of life for everyone.

Services
Autism Spectrum Disorder
My autism evaluations include a clinical interview, cognitive testing, social-emotional and adaptive rating scales, autism-specific rating scales, and in-depth, hands-on assessments that look directly at the signs and characteristics of autism, including the ADOS-2 and/or the MIGDAS-2. Additional assessments may be added as needed to answer each individual's unique questions.
ADHD Evaluations
My ADHD evaluations include a clinical interview, comprehensive cognitive testing, and a computerized continuous performance test that measures sustained attention and impulsive responding. Rating scales completed by the individual and others who know them well, such as parents, teachers, or partners, help assess inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity across multiple settings. ADHD evaluations are available for school-age children, adolescents, and adults.
Mood & Behavior
My mood and behavior evaluations begin with an in-depth clinical interview to understand the specific emotional and behavioral challenges. I then complete comprehensive cognitive testing to understand each person's cognitive profile, including strengths as well as areas of need. Rating scales tailored to the areas of concern are gathered from multiple people, such as parents, teachers, partners, and the individual, to guide an accurate diagnosis and meaningful recommendations.
Trauma Evaluations
My trauma evaluations begin with an in-depth clinical interview to understand how trauma has affected your child. I then complete comprehensive cognitive testing, and rating scales from multiple people provide insight into social-emotional functioning and behavior. Finally, I complete a Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) brain map through a trauma-focused developmental interview. The brain map helps families understand how trauma and early experiences may have shaped their child's development, and it guides the family toward the most effective treatment options. This evaluation takes place over several appointments: a three-hour in-person testing visit, a telehealth interview for the brain map, and a telehealth feedback session to review results and recommendations.
Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)
If you disagree with your child's school district evaluation, you have the right to request an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) at the district's expense. I conduct IEEs for autism, ADHD, cognitive and learning concerns, and social-emotional functioning. When the district approves an IEE with me, I work directly with the district on scheduling and billing, so families do not pay out of pocket.
